Celebrating Success
Careers
Year 11 completed their work experience de-brief after their successful placements. During the day they:
- completed their CVs
- researched how to find apprenticeships
- thought about self-employment as a future option
- discussed the local labour market data
- looked at transitions to FE and HE
They also worked with Staffordshire University on developing their interview skills who said:
“It was a pleasure to work with your year 11 pupils on Wednesday 16th November where we enjoyed open discussions around employability, interview techniques and how to manage student time as they approach exam season.
I want to share with school SLT how polite, responsive, and engaging Year 11 were in a well thought out day that covered relevant issues affecting students on their educational journey.”
The day ended with awards celebrating their immense success on work experience from which some pupils secured apprenticeships and for others it has helped to cement their future career plans. As a school we are very grateful to all the employers who supported the pupils, including our Enterprise partner St. Modwen.

Enterprise
The Year 10 Enterprise Challenge Day visit to the Sixth Form College was a great success. Led by Mr Qayyum’s Enterprise team and the Sixth Form staff, the pupils participated in a variety of different activities from creative arts, criminology, digital marketing and photography.
The pupils took well to all the different activities and really enjoyed the new environment and tasks they were working on. The pupils particularly enjoyed the Criminology session where they had to analyse a crime scene and then unravel a murder mystery. They also thrived in the photography session where they were given state-of-the-art equipment and got to go around the college taking photographs. The pupils also got the opportunity to discuss progression routes for life after Moorside and many of them left with new goals and aspirations.
